L’époque des Hyundai au style anonyme est révolue depuis de nombreuses années. La gamme du constructeur coréen propose aujourd’hui des modèles à l’esthétique variée et le plus souvent très affirmée. Dévoilé au printemps 2021, le van Staria avait ainsi étonné par sa carrosserie vraiment inhabituelle dans sa catégorie. Son bandeau lumineux, repris depuis par le Kona, ou sa grande « bouche » dans le bouclier lui offrent un faciès très reconnaissable, alors que son hayon très vertical contraste avec la cellule avant nettement plus arrondie. Mais les familles nombreuses ou les entreprises de transport désireuses de se démarquer à son volant dans l’Hexagone ont très vite vu leur enthousiasme retomber. Contrairement à la branche allemande, Hyundai France n’a pas souhaité importer ce grand monospace, seulement disponible avec un gros V6 3.5 essence et un quatre-cylindres 2.2 diesel au départ. Il aura fallu l’arrivée d’une motorisation hybride de 215 ch pour faire changer cette décision. Le Staria est enfin commercialisé de manière officielle chez nous, avec un prix de départ de 57 400 €.
